At a press conference held today in Bangalore, Norton by Symantec launched the new Norton Internet Security 2012, and Norton Anti Virus 2012 in India. As part of the press conference, Norton officials also informed us on the findings of the CyberCrime Report 2011 and the global and local costs of cybercrime.
Releasing the Norton Internet security 2012 and Norton Anti Virus 2012 is in line with "Norton Everywhere" initiative to protect consumers everywhere they go – across locations, platforms, devices and digital media. The company is delivering on this initiative with mobile and cloud- based technology, including new features in the Norton 2012 products and also plans to support mobile and tablet devices for both Android and iOS platforms.
David Hall, Regional Consumer Product Marketing Manager, Symantec Asia Pacific spoke about the new features in the Norton 2012 products and how Norton has been focussing on providing the user with the "best experience" they can have when using Norton software. Norton Identity Safe in the CloudIt is said to protect personal and financial information from cybercriminals and keeps users safe from fraudulent websites. A new streamlined interface, simplified login experience, and ability to store passwords in the cloud makes the task of accessibility from any computer easy with Norton Internet Security 2012 installed.
Norton ManagementNew web-based functionality reportedly lets users manage their Norton products from anywhere in the world. Users can remotely add Norton products, manage security settings and update subscriptions, making it simple to check on the health of their devices or fix issues without needing to be there in person.
Norton InsightNorton’s reputation-based security technology is said to leverage the anonymous software adoption patterns of millions of contributing Symantec users to automatically identify and block never before seen malicious software.
Download Insight it reportedly checks every downloaded file for safety before installation and now provides users with additional data about the predicted stability of the application in their environment based on the stability experiences of millions of other Symantec users.
SONARImproved SONAR technology monitors running applications for suspicious behavior to detect and disable previously unknown threats.

Among the tther features discussed included a bandwidth awareness feature which allows the user to hold back on downloading all files except the most vital ones, so as to conserve his/her limited download/bandwidth capacity.
In addition, Norton officials displayed the results of performance tests conducted by the PassMark Software and AV-Comparatives on the Norton 2012 products and its competitors - Norton Internet Security 2012 ranked first in overall performance testing by both companies.
Norton Internet Security 2012 and Norton AntiVirus 2012 are now available for purchase in India through various retailers and at the Norton online store. The MRP for Norton Internet Security 2012 is INR 2,530 for one year of protection for up to three PCs, and INR 1,165 for one year of protection for one PC. The MRP for Norton AntiVirus 2012 is INR 499 for one year of protection for one PC, and INR 1,310 for one year of protection for up to three PC's. Good news for customers as those having Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus 2007 or later versions with a valid product subscription are eligible to receive the latest product updates via the subscription service model.
