Samsung Galaxy S II v/s Samsung Galaxy S

Dual-core power for Android is the hottest trend in the world of smartphones. LG unleashed the Optimus 2X running on dual-core Nvidia Tegra chip and in reply Samsung has introduced the Galaxy S II(touted to be the fastest smartphone) to rival the 2X. Let us take a look at what are the major differences between the original Galaxy, which is no 1. on our Top 5 list and its sibling Galaxy S II.

Processing Power
The Galaxy S II is expected to perform like a beast as compared to the Galaxy S because the new smartphone runs on a Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor as compared to the 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor running on the older sibling. An upgrade in RAM was inevitable and hence the Galaxy S II gets a 512MB upgrade and has a 1GB RAM which aids in better processing.
Screen and Sensor
A wise man once said bigger is better. Well the Galaxy S II with a 4.3 inch screen is slightly bigger screen than the Galaxy S, which had a 4 inch screen. Also, the Galaxy S II has a gyroscope sensor apart from the regular accelerometer.
Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
The Galaxy S II comes with Gingerbread (Android 2.3) out-of-the box which adds a bunch of new features. The Galaxy S on the other hand came pre-installed with Android 2.1 (Eclair) but is now upgradable to Gingerbread.
Camera Module
Samsung has also upgraded the camera module from a 5MP shooter on the Galaxy S to an 8MP one on the Galaxy S II. Also, the Galaxy S II has image-stabilisation and the front-camera is a 2MP shooter versus the VGA camera on Galaxy S. Another major plus point that a powerful processor provides is the capacity to capture 1080p full HD videos on the Galaxy S II at 30fps.
